Great Music on Sundays @5 presents "QUEER VOICES THROUGH THE CENTURIES"
Andrew Bearden Brown ~ tenor Frederick Jodry ~ piano Eric Maul ~ flute Come hear music from the 18th century to today composed by queer people about queer life! From the Baroque to musical theater, from British folk songs to French melodies, this recital explores depictions of love, joy and remembrance from LGBTQ+ composers. Tenor Andrew Bearden Brown, pianist Frederick Jodry and flutist Eric Maul share works that queer people have created to celebrate the lives they have built for themselves and their community, including repertoire such as Francis Poulencs ecstatic Flute Sonata and Jake Heggies contemporary song cycle composed in homage to Poulenc. Featuring music by G. F. Handel, Benjamin Britten and more, this recital offers a wide-ranging glimpse at what it means to connect with our community and the world.
